Traders’ history in the coffee business places it in a unique position for understanding the needs of the trade. With over 30 years specialist experience in the coffee business, we pride ourselves on understanding & exceeding our customers’ needs for the best coffee, machines and related products. Starting as coffee & tea retailers in the 1980s with coffee roasted for us in nearby Richmond-upon-Thames by Francois, a dear friend and experienced coffee roaster, we soon opened a café on our own premises. It wasn’t long before other cafes and restaurants were asking us to use the same coffee, so we decided it was time to start roasting. Our original, rather old roaster was sited in our Surbiton shop which meant that the beautiful smell of roasting coffee soon pulled in extra customers. Over the years we have changed roasters a few times and still hand-roast our coffees on a Samiac roaster. With demand increasing we have more recently installed a Neotec roaster alongside the Samiac drum roaster. Our roasting team have experimented with many blends and roasts in their endeavour to find that elusive, perfect cup of coffee. After roasting for many years, we now sell our coffee under our own brand – CoffeeBAY – and then added the Pier Caffe brand for our sustainable coffees. Finally, and to provide our customers with the complete package from the green bean to the cup, we moved into the world of espresso machines. After carefully researching the market and based on our own experience of using new and traditional machines, we became a main distributor for two of Italy’s premier espresso machine ranges Astoria and Rocket, employing expert engineers to offer service and maintenance contracts to give you peace of mind when buying or renting your espresso machine. And of course not forgetting we are also tea merchants. As tea regains popularity in the more health conscious world, we have a wide range of experience there too along with all the related products and accessories for coffee and tea.
